Playground Games (personal memory)

Red Rover was a very sociable game with a lot of communicating and competing.

The object of Red Rover was for one member of Team A to run full speed toward the members of Team B, who were linked in a chain of hands, to try to break through one of the links. The runner would succeed in breaking through the link or bounce back, in either case ending up motionless on the concrete. The game generally moved along rather slowly, since we’d often have to go get someone’s mother. Red Rover was eventually banned at schools.
